ETS® Personal Potential Index (ETS® PPI) Webinar

The ETS® Personal Potential Index (ETS® PPI) is the first large-scale, quantifiable evaluation of personal attributes for use in graduate admissions.

What is the ETS PPI?

The ETS Personal Potential Index (ETS® PPI) is a web-based admissions tool for evaluating the personal attributes of applicants to a graduate or business school. Evaluators rate applicants on six dimensions that are regarded as important for success in a graduate or business school program: Knowledge and Creativity; Communication Skills; Teamwork; Resilience; Planning and Organization; and Ethics and Integrity. Once the evaluators have completed their evaluations, the applicant orders ETS PPI Evaluation Reports and designates the schools to receive them. ETS creates the reports and sends them to the schools designated by the applicant.

Why was the ETS PPI Created?

In response to calls for a way to measure and report on the personal dimensions of graduate and business school success, ETS developed the ETS PPI. The ETS PPI grew out of more than 10 years of groundbreaking work of ETS researchers in the measurement of personal attributes and their role in academic performance. The information that ETS PPI provides will round out the graduate and business school applications by providing information beyond transcripts, test scores and letters of recommendation.

How does the ETS PPI relate to the letter of recommendation?

Unlike a letter of recommendation, the ETS PPI Evaluation Report provides standardized information based on evaluators' responses to a common set of structured questions about six key personal attributes. The ETS PPI Evaluation Report can incorporate ratings from a number of evaluators, rather than just one, adding to the reliability of the report.

Join us for a free 1-hour webinar on the ETS PPI and learn how this innovative web-based system for evaluating the personal attributes of graduate applicants can help your graduate or business school create more diverse and successful graduate programs. The webinar is offered so that administrators, faculty, and others involved in the graduate admissions process can learn more about the ETS PPI and how to use evaluation reports. There is no fee to attend this webinar, but registration is required.

Registration is required by noon the day prior to the designated session in order to participate.
